About Department

The department of law, Bundelkhand College, Jhansi (UP) was established in 1961 and affiliated to Agra University- vide letter No. A.F./111/44/X/1337 dated 22.07.1961 (Provisional) and AF/959 dated 18.08.1964 (Permanent) and subsequently to Bundelkhand University, Jhansi which came in existence from 1975. The college is aided by Govt. of U.P. and recognized under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act 1956 and registered with Bar Council of India as per BC/LE/BKC/JHSI/BKU/2005. The college caters the LL.B three year course divided in six semester.

The Department of Law at Bundelkhand College, Jhansi, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in Uttar Pradesh, has been a centre of legal learning and excellence since its inception. The department is committed to imparting quality legal education that blends theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, preparing students to meet the challenges of the legal profession and society at large.With a rich academic legacy and a team of highly qualified faculty members, the Department offers Undergraduate (LL.B.) and Postgraduate (LL.M.) programs designed to nurture critical thinking, advocacy skills, and ethical responsibility among students. Emphasis is laid on moot court practices, legal aid clinics, seminars, workshops, and research activities, ensuring that learners not only understand the letter of the law but also its spirit and application in real-life situations. Over the years, the Department has produced distinguished alumni who have excelled as judges, lawyers, academicians, administrators, and policymakers, contributing significantly to the legal system and the nation. Upholding the values of justice, fairness, and equity, the Department of Law at Bundelkhand College continues to play a pivotal role in shaping competent legal professionals and responsible citizens.

Faculty: Sanctioned posts-11

The No. of permanent posts sanctioned by the Govt. are 11 and presently seven teachers are working in the department and one post on extraordinary leave (working as principal in the same college).Three posts are vacant and pending with the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Prayagraj for selection and placement. Against vacant posts part time/guest faculty are appointed.
